Lithops & Split Rock Soil Mix
Lithops & Split Rock Soil Mix uses a predominantly mineral texture for plants that need substantial drainage and long drying intervals. Watering depends on the plant’s growth and leaf-replacement stage, and pot depth needs to accommodate the roots.
Mineral structure
The published recipe lists pumice as its main ingredient, plus coarse horticultural sand, a modest quantity of worm castings and small additions of lava gravel and activated carbon.
Use the right pot
Use a drainage-holed container deep enough for the taproot or other substantial roots. Choose depth based on the plant’s actual taproot; shallow decorative dishes are often unsuitable.
Adjust to plant condition
After potting, avoid prolonged wetness around damaged roots. Water only in a suitable growth phase for the species; allow the mineral mix to dry before the next watering.
