Propagation Substrate Set
Fine Seeding & Cutting Soil, perlite and vermiculite can be mixed for seeds, cuttings and well-rooted starter plants. It is a temporary rooting medium; move plants to a species-appropriate mix once the roots fill the container.
Our starting proportions
Use 4 parts Seeding & Cutting Soil, 1 part perlite and ½–1 part vermiculite, all measured by volume.
Avoid soggy trays
A covered propagation box needs less vermiculite than an open pot that dries quickly. Move cuttings on when roots are established, not after a rigid number of weeks.
