Semi-Hydro Mix – mineral substrate for reservoir growing
Semi-Hydro Mix provides an open mineral structure for plants grown in suitable semi-hydro containers. The roots receive water and nutrients from the system, while the solid medium supports the plant and keeps air spaces around the roots.
What the medium does
- Mineral support: maintains structure without a conventional organic soil base.
- Reservoir growing: works with pots designed for this cultivation method.
- No built-in fertiliser: nutrients must be provided through the water.
- Reusable material: can be cleaned and reused when appropriate.
Before you switch
Choose a healthy plant and a container that suits semi-hydro growing. Roots adapted to ordinary soil may not immediately function well in a mineral reservoir system. Monitor root health during the transition and adjust the water level to the plant and container.
Water and nutrition
Use an appropriate hydroponic fertiliser, mixed for the plant and its growth stage. Keep the reservoir clean and follow the product directions for flushing and replacing the nutrient solution. The granules themselves do not supply food.
Preparing the medium
Rinse loose dust from the granules before potting. Support the roots gently and avoid compressing the material. Semi-Hydro Mix is for mineral growing systems; it is not intended to be blended into ordinary potting soil.
