Vermiculite
Vermiculite is an expanded, layered mineral that holds water within its flakes. It can help a fine potting mix stay evenly moist around seedlings and newly rooted cuttings.
Use it where water contact matters
Blend small amounts into seeding soil, coir or other fine growing media. Moisture-loving fine-rooted plants may benefit, provided the complete pot can still drain.
Keep dry-down in mind
Too much vermiculite can make a mix stay wet for longer. Reduce the proportion in cool rooms, closed propagation boxes and containers that already dry slowly.
Prepare and store
Handle the flakes gently, avoid dust and store unused material dry. Vermiculite does not replace a complete feeding programme.
